KNOW YOUR FLAVOUR & FILLING. Be strategic with your cake flavour and filling—do they complement each other and are they customizable? For example, a cake with a cream cheese exterior isn't as customizable as a cake with a buttercream or fondant exterior. HINT: Cream cheese and berry fillings compromise the stability of cakes, so if you choose these options, be reasonable with the size and height of the cake, as well as the weather and season you may need it for. KNOW YOUR STYLE.  Trends change, and often. Have a general idea of the cake style you’re looking for. Is your dream style floral, modern, boho, or traditional?
